There are plenty of different accommodation options available for anyone thinking about spending their holidays in Lanzarote. As this small Canary Island offers everything from budget apartments through to breathtaking rural hotels.
Apartments in Lanzarote
There is an abundance of Lanzarote apartments for visitor to the island to choose from. The bulk of which are located in the island’s largest and oldest resort of Puerto del Carmen. Which is located on the south east coast just a short hop from the main airport at Arrecife.
These complexes were at the core of the blueprint as Puerto del Carmen expanded from a small fishing village into the bustling holiday resort of today during the boom years of the 1970´s. Offering good value accommodation for tourists from across Northern Europe.
Hotels in Lanzarote
The island boasts over 200 hotels – the vast majority of which either enjoy four or three star status.
There are a handful of five star establishments on the island as well though. Such as the Arrecife Gran Hotel in the island’s capital and the Gran Melia Volcan located in Playa Blanca. Whilst the Gran Melia Salinas in Costa Teguise holds the title of being the oldest and therefore longest established luxury hotel on the island.
Holiday Villas in Lanzarote
Until a decade or so ago accommodation in Lanzarote was largely confined to a straight choice between a self catering apartment on a complex or a hotel room. But that has all changed. As thanks to the internet holidaymakers can source and book their own private rental properties direct online.
As a result demand for Lanzarote villas has expanded enormously and has been fuelled by property investors buying up suitable properties in areas such as Playa Blanca in order to tent out to their fellow holidaymakers.
Today visitors will find that there’s a wide choice of villa accommodation everywhere on the island. Including in more out of the way rural areas. But the largest concentration can of course still be found in the three main holiday resorts.
Rural Retreats
Rural tourism only really started to take off on Lanzarote a decade or so ago. Fuelled by repeat visitors searching for something a little different away from the hustle and bustle of the main holiday resorts.
Today though there are over a dozen good quality rural hotels catering to this market. Whilst the island even boasts eco-friendly accommodation too.
